Intro
Honeycomb Credit is a crowdfunding platform that connects small businesses seeking growth loans and community members who want to invest locally. Our team launched Operation Swarm, a cross-team collaboration across Product, Marketing, and Customer Experience, to bring our investing technology in-house and launch a complete refresh of our investment platform. Along with ensuring a seamless migration of existing functions, Operation Swarm also provided a first-of-its-kind opportunity for our team to dig into the behaviors and needs of our investors and bring a fresh product experience with long-waited features to our customers.

Research
We surveyed dozens of investors on our platform and conducted in-depth interviews with power users on our Investor Steering Committee. Amongst the feedback, investors shared that they wanted more ability to manage their investment portfolio, greater clarity around loan repayments from the businesses, and a faster, more intuitive investment checkout process.
Design
My high-fidelity prototype of the new Investor Portfolio included the following features and layouts to address the needs of investors:
Portfolio Performance: “My Portfolio” shows the overall health of the investment portfolio and the return on investment, with a summary of the total dollars invested, next repayment, projected returns, and more
Dashboard of all investments: “My Investments” lists out all of the investments that an investor has contributed to, in reverse chronological order. When an investment is clicked, it opens up a screen with detailed information about the campaign
Inside scoop on every investment: The detailed campaign view provides the loan terms, current status of the loan, detailed breakdown of the investor’s returns, and outstanding principal and interest payments
Repayment Schedules: The “Recent" Payments” and “Upcoming Payments” sections give full visibility into past repayments, as well as future ones and their expected dates
Along with the Investor Portfolio, I also designed high-fidelity prototypes of the Live Campaigns page, funding widgets, individual campaign pages, and Sign up/Login page for the Operation Swarm platform launch.
Implementation
These prototypes were delivered to the Director of Product and the development team. Throughout the product sprints, I provided feedback to the product team on fine-tuning the user interface and branding. The final look of the newly launched Investor Portfolio is shown below.
Product Launch
On the marketing side, I led my team to create announcement emails to different investor customer segments and promote the updated platform launch on the Honeycomb website.
Impact
With the new updates to the Honeycomb investment platform, investors can now invest confidently in less than a minute, manage their past and future investments, and plan ahead with their personal finances.
